Broome County Health Department Announces H1N1 Response Activities for Week of November 30, 2009

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Broome County Health Department will be holding six H1N1 flu clinics during the week of November 30, 2009. The vaccine is available at no charge. Written consent from a parent or guardian will be required for anyone under 18 years of age.

Upcoming Clinic Dates:
  
Wednesday, December 2, 2009, 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (closed to general public)
Maine Endwell Middle & Senior High Schools
 
Thursday, December 3, 2009, 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (closed to general public)
Homer Brink & Maine Memorial Elementary Schools
 
Thursday, December 3, 2009, 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (open to people who are part of the groups recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to receive the H1N1 vaccine)

CDC target groups for H1N1 vaccination include: 
  • Pregnant women
  • People who live with or care for infants younger than 6 months of age
  • Health care and emergency medical services personnel
  • Anyone 6 months through 24 years of age
  • Anyone from 25 through 64 years of age with certain chronic medical conditions or a weakened immune system 
The Broome County Health Department will be closed from Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. until Monday, November 30, 2009, at 8:00 a.m. During our holiday shutdown the H1N1 hotline will not be available to take phone calls. Questions, concerns or requests for information can be e-mailed to flu@co.broome.ny.us.
